As part of our commitment to building a skilled, resilient, and future‑ready workforce, the Council continues to invest strategically in apprenticeships across all service areas. This case study outlines why we chose the YPO Apprenticeship Framework to procure apprenticeship training providers, the challenges the framework helped us overcome, the impact on our internal processes, and how this approach supports our broader social value objectives.

Challenge

The Council employs apprentices in diverse roles from business administration and digital services to social care, housing, and environmental services. In the past, finding providers one by one took a long time and created unnecessary administrative work.

Solution

To streamline procurement and ensure access to compliant providers, we adopted the YPO Framework. This has saved us time and money, as the alternative would have been to create an in-house DPS.

Ashley is a PR and Communications officer for the public sector side of the organisation. This involves supporting communications to local authorities, emergency services, housing, NHS and the wider public sector.
