4 Cracking Christmas Nature Crafts

The changing seasons around the festive period are a perfect time to get outside and explore nature. Mother nature presents many natural resources around this time of year that are amazing assets to use for crafting! We’ve created 4 nature crafts using pinecones, conkers and pebbles to create fun and festive gifts that your class will love!

Let’s make a pinecone Christmas tree!

Let your class explore the great outdoors and find their own pinecones to make a mini Christmas tree!

Pinecone Christmas Tree

To make your pinecone Christmas tree you will need:

Pinecones (1 pinecone per pupil)
Pack of 50 Assorted Corks - 140g
YPO Blue Label PVA Glue, Washable – 1 Litre
YPO Premium Acrylic Paint, Leaf Green – 500ml Bottle

How to make:

Start by painting your pinecone green and let it dry fully.
Next, glue the cork to the bottom of the pinecone to make a tree trunk.
Finally, get creative and decorate your pinecone Christmas tree however you desire. We think that glitter, pom poms and sequins would look spectacular!

Let’s make a pinecone Rudolph!

To make your own Rudolph you will need a pinecone (again we think it would be great fun for your class to hunt for their own!)

Pinecone Rudolph

To make your pinecone Rudolph you will need:

Pinecones (1 pinecone per pupil)
Assorted Pipe Cleaners, Pack of 100
YPO Blue Label PVA Glue, Washable – 1 Litre
Yarn Pom Poms 20mm Red - 80 Pack
Googly/Wiggle Eyes, Stick On – Pack of 500

How to make:

Firstly, stick your googly eyes and a red pom pom to the bottom of your pinecone to make Rudolph’s famous face.
Next, cut your pipe cleaner in half (or smaller if needed) and wrap them around a pencil to make curly antlers. You can also just bend the pipe cleaners if you find this easier.
Finally, stick the antlers to your pinecone and your own pinecone Rudolph is complete!

Let’s make some seasonal pebble buddies!

Your class will love hunting for the perfect pebble and transforming it into a seasonal pebble buddy!

Christmas Pebble Buddies

To make your pebble bubbies you will need:

Natural Materials – Flat Pebbles (or you could let your pupils find their own!)
YPO Ready Mixed Paint Assorted Colours 1 Litre Bottles - 12 Pack
edding Chalk Markers, Assorted Colours 4095 – Pack of 10
Long Handle Round Hog Paint Brushes - Pack of 30

How to make:

Firstly, decide who you want your pebble buddy to be (snowmen and reindeers are a favourite of ours!)
Next, paint your pebble the colour of your chosen buddy and let it dry completely (for example if you were creating a snowman you would paint your pebble white)
Finally, grab a chalk marker and add the finishing touches to your buddy such as the eyes, mouth and anything else your imagination desires!

Let’s make some brilliant baubles!

Do you love decorating your Christmas tree as much as we do? We think you’ll enjoy the process even more using your own brilliant baubles created from conkers!

Three Brilliant Baubles

To make your baubles you will need:

Conkers (your class will love exploring the great outdoors and finding their own)
Craft BioGlitter, Eco-Friendly, Assorted Colours - Pack of 6 x 60g
YPO Blue Label PVA Glue, Washable – 1 Litre
Thin White Cotton String - 250g

How to make:

Firstly, completely cover your conker with PVA glue
Next, choose your favourite colour of eco glitter and sprinkle it over the conker - Don’t forget to shake off any excess!
Finally, tie a piece of string to make a loop shape and stick this to the top of your conker. You now have a brilliant bauble that is ready to be placed on your Christmas tree!
