YPO joins Wakefield Hospice festive fundraiser

YPO’s drivers will be delivering to schools across Yorkshire in support of Wakefield Hospice’s Rudolph and Reindeer Run, helping to raise vital funds for local families in need of hospice care.

From November 17, YPO drivers will be providing a Santa’s delivery service to each nursery and school taking part in the festive run, delivering to 10 nurseries and 38 schools.

By supporting Wakefield Hospice through logistics, they are providing each child with their very own set of YPO ‘make your own’ Rudolph Hat or reindeer ears, while a staff member will be gifted a Santa Suit to wear during their run.

YPO’s support ensures every child can take part in the fun while helping raise money for a meaningful cause that makes a real difference to local families in need this Christmas.

Every year, Wakefield Hospice host the Reindeer Run, a free, fun and easy way for schools and nurseries to get involved in Christmas fundraising.

This year, the charity has introduced the Rudolph Run, inviting nurseries across the community to take part in the brand-new festive fundraiser.

Schools and Nurseries taking part in this year's Festive Fun Runs include Towngate Primary Academy, Normanton All Saints CE(A) Infant School, Outwood Primary Academy Ledger Lane and Abacus Nursery.

Participating schools and nurseries get their very own fundraising page and are free to take part on any date in December, often during PE lessons, with all children wearing their festive headpieces to support a good cause.

Last year, over 11,000 children from 36 schools raised an incredible £35,600 to support hospice care for families across Wakefield.

Alex Cunniff, Wakefield Hospice Events Fundraiser said: “We are delighted to have the support of YPO for this year’s Reindeer and Rudolph Run, adding an extra hint of Christmas magic to the event by getting Santa to deliver the fundraising packs to every school and nursery taking part!

“2025 will be the first year we have seen nurseries get involved with the event through our newly established “Rudolph Run”, and we would like to say a big thank you to all the schools and nurseries who have got involved this year, and to YPO for their support and for providing our make-your-own Rudolph Hats!”

Wakefield Hospice is a local registered charity, providing the highest level of symptom management and care for people who have advanced active, progressive and life-threatening illness.

For over 50 years, YPO has been deeply committed in supporting both local and national charities.
