A look into the polymer circularity process

A sustainable world depends on a ‘circular economy’, which is an alternative traditional ‘take-make-dispose’ system. The goal is to eliminate waste at all stages of the product life cycle by optimising as much value as possible from resources and materials, and then recovering and regenerating these at the end of their useful life. IPL are an active contributor to the circular economy and continue driving this transition, working closely with our customers and raw material suppliers to innovate and deliver circular packaging solutions.

Did you know? Virgin polymer is redefined from crude oil, a toxic and harmful threat to our environment? Virgin polymer is used in all coloured products whereas our new Eco-Range aids the environment through utilising 90%+ recycled material.

What does IPL do differently?

IPL are the only plastic packaging manufacturer to have 100% control of our materials regeneration process, control its own recycled feedstock and offer an in-house take back scheme, testament to the investments in our two UK-based recycling facilities. We now offer an end-to-end take back scheme to existing and future customers, enhancing the service we offer and making a greater contribution to a sustainable future.

With limited time and resources on this planet, we must be conscious of our environment. Buy back schemes must become a bi-product of business- allowing plastic to be re-used and not wasted. Don’t treat plastic like trash. Recycle.

What Does IPL’s Polymer Circularity Process Look Like?

Manufacture - Containers are manufactured at one of our 6 UK facilities in Rotherham, Haydock, Hull, Wolverhampton, Tamworth and Castleford containing up to 100% recycled polymer
Transport/Deliver - Containers travel UK only roadmiles and enter the Great British market, ready for use.
Container Service - Our containers live a long life, performing their function for many years of service.
Collection/Return - Our containers are collected, ready to return to IPL after their long service to the Great British market.
Re-engineer/Recycle - Containers are processed at IPL’s specialised polymer recycling and manufacturing business (in Castleford). The recycled polymer is then distributed to our sites across the UK.

Sustainable closed-loop manufacturing, working towards building a greener future.
In-house recycled polymer manufacturing closes the manufacturing loop, sourcing UK plastic to recycle and reuse. This also allows constant access to material.
Protected from market price increases; with no import fees or need to source material from the wider market, we are able to protect our customers from market-lead material price increases, providing a more stable cost solution.
Reduced CO2 emissions; plastic being sourced and recycled within the UK and travelling UK roadmiles reduces CO2 emissions, minimising our and your carbon footprint.
