“Achieved £19,385 in savings and - We ran a benchmarking exercise under Lots 1 and 2 to understand product availability and cost difference between new and sustainable options. Some suppliers did not provide sustainable pricing option at all which was a concern as they were awarded to that Lot. We achieved good savings against pricing previously benchmarked prices received from 1 supplier which has enabled us to purchase some equipment at a higher spec than originally considered and still kept within the budget.
The ability to direct award following the benchmarking exercise was really helpful in order to obtain competitive pricing but not be tied down to a specific supplier where certain requirements did not necessarily meet our requirements.
Due to the savings recognised in the benchmarking exercise, we were also able to purchase higher spec equipment in some areas to benefit the schools.”
